Brief history of the Malaga Fair
The Malaga Fair is also known as the Feria de Agosto (August Fair) and is celebrated during this month because 19 August 1487 was the capture of the city of Malaga.The Catholic Monarchs incorporated it into the Crown of Castile.
Every 19th August a historical parade is held to commemorate this day, with costumes from the time of the capture of the city by the Catholic Monarchs, through the centre of the city and ending at Malaga Cathedral.
The Malaga Fair is one of the most popular festivals in Andalusia, together with the Seville April Fair.
What day does the Malaga Fair 2026 start?

The dates for the Malaga Fair 2026 have not yet been officially confirmed.
Traditionally held in mid-August, the fair usually begins with a fireworks display on Friday night, leading into a full week of celebration that ends the following Saturday.

Who can participate in the competition for the Malaga Fair poster?
The competition is open to all artists, regardless of their nationality, who wish to take part. Each artist may submit only one work, being an essential condition that it be original and unpublished, for which the artist is responsible by the mere submission of the work, thereby certifying that this image has no restrictions on its use.
In addition, if an existing image is used in the design, the author must provide written proof of the purchase of the corresponding rights for this image.

When is the Malaga Fair 2026 opening speech?

The opening speech is another of the key moments that mark the official start of the fair.
Although the town crier for 2026 has not yet been confirmed, in previous editions prominent figures such as El Kanka, Alberto Díaz and María Peláez have participated.
Since 2022, the proclamation has been held on the first Saturday of the fair, normally in the Cortijo de Torres fairgrounds, just before the lighting of the lights.
What to see and do at the Malaga Fair 2026?

The day fair in the centre of Malaga

It will be held in the centre of Malaga where there will be live music every day from 12:00h in the Plaza de la Constitución, Plaza del Obispo, Plaza de las Flores and Plaza San Pedro de Alcántara until 18:00h when the music will end and only licensed establishments will be allowed inside.
Here you can enjoy the cover at the beginning of Larios Street and along its length adorned with lanterns and flowers. It is also very popular to find people dressed in flamenco costumes and the typical "pandas de verdiales" singing.
In the Plaza de la Merced there will be a space for the little ones of the house where they can enjoy games, theatre workshops, puppets and more surprises every day from Sunday 17th August from 12:00h to 15.30h.
The Real de Málaga Fair

It is held in the Cortijo de Torres Exhibition CentreBoth day and night activities will take place in the Auditorium, the Youth Esplanade, the famous stalls, as well as children's activities in the Municipal Children's stall from 21:30h.
