What to see at the Alhambra
The Nasrid Palaces
The heart of the complex, featuring the Patio de los Leones, the Salón de Comares and the Sala de los Abencerrajes. This is the area with strict entry times: if you miss your allocated time slot, you will not be allowed back in.
The Alcazaba
The military section and the oldest part of the complex. From the Torre de la Vela, you can see the whole city, the Albaicín and the Sierra Nevada in the distance.
The Generalife
The sultans’ country estate, with its terraced gardens, irrigation channels and the Patio de la Acequia. It is separated from the palace by a path lined with cypress trees.
The two versions of the excursion

Frequently asked questions
Are tickets to the Alhambra included?
It depends on the option. There is a version that includes admission tickets and a guided tour of the Nasrid Palaces and the Generalife, and another that is just the transfer, for those who have already bought their tickets themselves. Admission tickets to the Alhambra are personal and named.
How far in advance do you need to book?
As soon as possible. The Alhambra has a limited capacity and operates a timed-entry system, and during peak season tickets sell out weeks in advance. The package including tickets is subject to availability, so it’s best not to leave it until the last minute.
How long does the trip to Granada from Málaga take?
Between ten and twelve hours, with a two-and-a-half-hour journey each way and a stop for breakfast. The pick-up time is determined by the opening time of the Alhambra, which does not allow for delays, making this one of the earliest departures.
What exactly can you visit at the Alhambra?
The complex includes the Alcazaba, the Nasrid Palaces with the Courtyard of the Lions, and the Generalife gardens. The guided tour covers all three areas in around three hours. Depending on the option chosen, there is also some free time to explore the Albaicín or the city centre.
Do I need to show ID?
Yes. Tickets for the Alhambra are issued in the holder’s name, so you’ll need to provide the details of each traveller when booking and show proof of identity on the day of the visit. Without this, you won’t be allowed into the site.
