La Malagueta Bullring was inaugurated in 1876, and since then it has established itself as one of the world's leading architectural and cultural icons of Malaga. Designed by the architect Joaquín Rucoba, its style neo-Mudéjar and its 16-sided polygonal shape make it one of the most unique bullrings in Spain. With a capacity for more than 9,000 people, for decades it has been the scene of great bullfights, especially during the Feria de Agosto, one of the most important on the national bullfighting calendar.

Located in a privileged place, a few metres from the sea and the promenade Pablo Ruiz PicassoLa Malagueta combines tradition and views of the Mediterranean like few other places in the city. In 1976 it was declared Bien de Interés Culturalrecognising its heritage and symbolic value for the people of Malaga.

Today, its history lives on, not only as a witness to the bullfighting past, but also as a multi-purpose space which fuses past and present in the heart of the Costa del Sol.
