That is why it is a good idea to download the official brochure from the Tourism Department before your visit: any fixed list quickly becomes out of date.

What is the largest mural in Estepona?

«Días de Pesca», by José Fernández Ríos, covering nearly 1,000 square metres spread across six façades in the Isabel Simón neighbourhood. It is a trompe-l’œil: the walls only appear to line up when viewed from a specific point on the street, marked by an arrow painted on the ground.

Does the mural of the Venus of Estepona still exist?

No. Ana Cecilia Salinas’s artwork in the Barriada Mar y Sierra neighbourhood has been removed from the Tourist Office’s official map, although it is still mentioned in out-of-date guidebooks. What can be seen, however, is the piece that inspired it: the Venus of Estepona, a clay figurine dating back some 5,000 years, discovered in the town in 2011.

How long does it take to walk the mural trail?

Between two and three hours for a selection of fourteen works. The full route takes a good half a day, and some visitors cover thirteen kilometres on foot in a single day. The most practical approach is to divide it into three or four sections and travel between them by car, or explore it by bike or scooter.

Do you have to pay to see the murals?

No. They are on the façades of buildings and can be seen from the street, so the tour is free and can be done at any time. The City Council also classifies the route as accessible, as the urban route is flat.

Are there any other street art trails in Estepona?

Yes, there are two more that often go unnoticed: the sculpture trail, featuring works by nationally and internationally renowned artists dotted along the streets, and the poetry trail, with poems displayed in various languages. Both are listed on the local tourism website.

{"@context":"https://schema.org","@graph":[{"@type":"BreadcrumbList","@id":"https://www.visitanddo.com/en/route-of-the-artistic-murals-in-estepona/#breadcrumb","itemListElement":[{"@type":"ListItem","position":1,"name":"Home","item":"https://www.visitanddo.com/en/"},{"@type":"ListItem","position":2,"name":"Estepona","item":"https://www.visitanddo.com/que-ver-en-estepona/"},{"@type":"ListItem","position":3,"name":"Estepona Mural Trail"}]},{"@type":"TouristAttraction","@id":"https://www.visitanddo.com/en/route-of-the-artistic-murals-in-estepona/#ruta","name":"Estepona Artistic Murals Trail","description":"An open-air museum featuring more than sixty large-scale murals on building façades throughout the municipality.
