The pre-festival events begin earlier: the International Folk Galas take place on 29 and 30 August. Saturday 5 is when the bullfighting festivities are concentrated and is the day with the highest attendance.

Will bullfighting return to Ronda in 2026?

Yes. The Real Maestranza Bullring has been closed for two years due to consolidation works that began in June 2025, during which time no bullfights were held. In 2026, it will reopen and the full programme will resume: novillada, rejoneo and the Corrida Goyesca.

Are there any tickets available for the 2026 Goyesca Bullfight?

No. Tickets for the bullfighting events sold out over the summer, largely due to the excitement surrounding the reopening of the bullring. The rest of the festival — the daytime events, the evening events at the Ángel Harillo venue, the horse-drawn carriage parades and the folk dance performances — are free to attend.

Who will be fighting in the 2026 Corrida Goyesca?

Morante de la Puebla, José María Manzanares, Juan Ortega and Diego Ventura, at the 67th edition, which marks the 75th anniversary of Antonio Ordóñez’s promotion to full matador status. The 42nd Corrida Rondeña de Rejones, held that very morning, pays tribute to Álvaro Domecq Romero.

Why is it called the Pedro Romero Fair?

Because 1954 marked the bicentenary of the birth of Pedro Romero, a bullfighter from Ronda regarded as the father of ‘toreo a pie’ (bullfighting on foot), who also inaugurated the Ronda bullring in 1785. That year, the September bullfighting festival was named after him, and the Corrida Goyesca was born: on 16 September 1954, Antonio Bienvenida, Cayetano Ordóñez and César Girón entered the ring dressed in the Goyesque style.

What is there to see at the fair without going to the bullfights?

Quite a lot. The Carriage Show and Competition, which is the oldest of its kind in Spain and features carriages drawn by Purebred Spanish horses; the International Folk Galas at the Blas Infante Auditorium; the presentation of the Damas Goyescas; and the fair, held by day in the town centre and by night at the Ángel Harillo exhibition grounds.
