What is the Caminito del Rey?
A 7.7-kilometre footbridge through the Gaitanes Gorge, in the municipality of Ardales. It was built in the early 20th century to provide access for workers at the hydroelectric power station, and remained closed for years until it was restored.
The walkway clings to the canyon wall, with sections more than one hundred metres above the River Guadalhorce, and it is one-way: you enter via the northern access point and exit via the southern one.

How long does it take to walk the Caminito del Rey?

Is the Caminito del Rey difficult?
No special physical fitness is required, but you will need to walk for three hours over uneven terrain and along sections of narrow footbridge more than a hundred metres above the river. Closed-toe footwear is recommended. This is not suitable for anyone who suffers from severe vertigo.
